We have each been given gifts, spiritual gifts that are not of ourselves, so that no one can boast! We are given these for the purpose of contributing to the body of Christ!  We are actually Christ’s hands and feet in this world… a world that needs HIS hope and grace so much. Sin is real, we all face it and are part of it every day… we need each other…

After the passage in Ephesians where it talks about gifts, scripture goes on to state,

Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

Ephesians 4:14-16

Have you ever felt tossed back and forth? I have. I often am more susceptible to this when I’m not running towards something… We have an opportunity to be transformed as discover more of God’s story and our place it in… we each have unique part to play and playing it will require love, love for God, love for one another, which Jesus says,

They will know you are my disciples by your love for one another…

How great a testament to those around us when they see us building each other up? Only with the Holy Spirit’s help can we even begin to follow the ways of Jesus. One day at a time, we get to discover a life of transforming grace.

This process of discovering our gifts is about way more than how you should volunteer…  in fact, hearing and responding to God’s call will inevitably transform your life.  (see Romans 12) It is possible that searching these things out will generate a profound desire to re-orient your family, finances and priorities to better accommodate the mission God has uniquely designed you for. How cool is that?

But, this is isn’t easy…

Is there anything that might keep you from this pursuit?

  • How is your relationship with God? Consider multiple levels: emotional, spiritual, intellectual, strength (Love the Lord your God with all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength)
  • Behaviors? Are there distractions? Are there idols?
  • Thoughts?
Lets be transformed… Bring it on God! Bring it on! (this is a reference from the leadership summit, a prayer for God do what he wants)
